Power Blogging with ScoopIt, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter
In this article I want to take a look at the power blogging set up I use to interact with Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler and Empire Avenue using Scoop It. I am using my Spanish Football news and articles as examples, but this kind of Power Blogging set up is great for any subject that generates a lot of news.
As a Spanish Soccer writer and blogger, many of my articles for the Spain Football Community contain news and opinions on a number of different teams.
Good examples of this are my regular Living La Liga Previews and Reports that contain a paragraph on each of the 19 fixtures for every Liga BBVA Matchday, but the example I'll be using later on is my article that covers all the signings and transfers made by Primera Liga clubs during the 2012 Transfer window.
Although I want a full article on my website, in microblogging terms each paragraph represents a separate new item that would be perfect for my Twitter or Facebook audiences.
Also when I'm out and about on the Web, I often come across pieces of Spanish Football News that I want to share quickly and easily, and the best way I've found to do this is by using Scoop.It.
Spain Football on Scoop.It
Scoop. It is a fantastic resource and it allows me to Scoop articles and info on as many subjects as I like.
At the time of writing, I've got two topics - Spain Football at http://www.scoop.it/t/spain-football and Talking Barça but I'll probably start a few more as new interests occur.
From the Scoop It Dashboard, I can connect my Facebook Account and Spain Football Facebook Page, my Twitter @simonharris Account, my Living La Liga Tumblr Account and my Wordpress Account as well.
All these Social Media Networks feed through into my Empire Avenue SPAINFOOTBAL Account, where I earn points for my Social Media activity.
The basic idea behind Scoop It is very simple - it pulls articles and post from all over the web that include the keywords I've added. So with keywords like Liga BBVA, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao etc, it's easy to imagine the kind of content I have access to.
Obviously, if you blog or Tweet on a different subject the news articles that appear will be very different.
You can Edit the titles, text and messages you send to Twitter and Facebook - I generally leave everything as is but use a hashtag and a different title on my Facebook message because I have my Facebook page configured to send the news back to Twitter - I don't want my followers receiving exactly the same message twice.
You can upload your own image for the article and once the news item is published Scoop It also allows you to share the article on Google +.
Another important Scoop It tool is the bookmarklet, which can be found if you click on you name/profile in top right hand corner. You just drag to your browser toolbar. It will appear in Bookmarks and will allow you to Scoop any webpage you find on Internet.
I use it for publishing my own web pages and if you watch the video, you'll see how I cut my own articles up into fragments, so that one post gives me from 10-20 small articles for Scoop It and Tumblr, Facebook page posts and Tweets.
